Junior Scholar

During the April School Board Meeting, Marlboro County School District recognized Samuel Bryant Parks, an eighth grader from McColl Elementary Middle School who qualified for the South Carolina Junior Scholars Program.  The Junior Scholars program identifies eighth grade students with exceptional academic talent.  Students are assessed in critical reading, math problem solving, and writing skills using the Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test (PSAT).   In order to be identified as a Junior Scholar, a student must score 550 or above on the Evidence-Based Reading and Writing or 530 or higher on the Math portion of the PSAT/NMSQT; or have participated in Duke University’s Talent Identification Program (TIP) during their seventh-grade year, who met the eligibility requirements as outlined by that program, and were identified and recognized by Duke TIP at the State Recognition or Grand Recognition Ceremony.

Congratulations Bryant, keep up the good work!
