Federal Programs
The Office of Federal Programs provides leadership and technical assistance through the responsible and effective use of federal program dollars to support a quality education for every child in the Marlboro County School District. Through a consolidated approach to planning and operation, we support federal, state, and district initiatives and needs. Revenue sources include Title I, Title II, Title VI, and Exceptional Children.

Title I 
The Title I funds are used to provide supplemental core academic instruction, instructional support, and parental involvement and engagement to schools to ensure that all children have a fair, equal, and significant opportunity to obtain a high-quality education and reach, at a minimum, proficiency on challenging State academic achievement standards and state academic assessments.

Title II, Part A Improving Teacher Quality
The Title II Part A funds are used to increase academic achievement by providing supplemental funds to implement strategies to improve the quality of instruction and leadership, and reduce class-size. 

Title VI, Rural Education Achievement Program (REAP)
The Rural Education Achievement Program is designed to assist rural school districts in using Federal resources more effectively to improve the quality of instruction and student academic achievement. REAP is authorized under Part B of Title VI of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), as amended by the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001.

Office of Exceptional Children
The Office of Exceptional Children ensures that all children with disabilities in the Marlboro County School District  have available a free appropriate public education (FAPE), protects the rights of these children and their parents, and provides leadership to school in the provision of appropriate special educational services.

English as a Second Language (ESOL)

Pursuant to federal requirements, the district will communicate information to parents in a language they can understand.  Therefore, the district will provide free language assistance to limited English proficient parents. 

The district will provide, in a timely manner, interpreters for oral communication through Language Line, a telephone interpreting service.

For written communications, the district subscribes to TransACT to provide translated, routine parent notices and forms in multiple languages easily accessible online for teachers, nurses, office administrators, transportation officers, and food services staff. 

Although the district attempts to provide written translations in as many languages as possible, it is not always possible or practicable to do so.  The Important Information Notice, provided below in English, Arabic, and Vietnamese, can be completed and returned to your child’s school to request oral translation or interpretation of district or school written communications, including, but not limited to the following:
