On March 11, 2021, the American Rescue Plan (ARP) Act was signed into law. The US Department of Education is providing an additional $121.9 billion for the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Fund (ESSER III Fund). South Carolina received $2,112,051,487 from ESSER III of which Marlboro County School District received $19,859,007 to be used across the district. At least 20% of this money must be allocated to activities that address student learning loss. The remaining funds may be budgeted and expended on other allowable activities/categories.
We are updating our plan and although there are stipulations as to what and how the money should be spent, (you) as a valued stakeholder in our educational enterprise are expected to provide input as to how you believe this money could be best used to benefit all students of Marlboro County. We all have a vested interest in educating our students with the latest and greatest, however, we also need to consider the social, emotional, and mental hurdles many of our students endure daily. Our goal is to educate the “whole” child while striving to meet the needs of all students. Meeting the requirements of the ARP will be the responsibility of this entire county. Let’s carefully examine and plan together for Marlboro County School District by completing this short survey. https://forms.gle/Qh3DkeeMWUzq...
